During an unplanned news conference at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon their arrival from Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon, Bangladesh captain Sabina Khatun dedicated the SAFF Women’s Championship trophy to the people of the country.
The airport was buzzing with curious media personnel, football fans, and the general public that flocked there to catch sight of the players.
Sabina, the tournament’s top scorer, and most valuable player stated: “We are happy to see how much the people of this nation appreciate us. We are grateful to everyone for making us feel so welcome.”
“This trophy is for the entire country, whether it is worth 16 crore, 18 crore, or 20 crore. We achieved a satisfactory outcome. Now, our goal is to do better in the next few days “She stated.
The squad then boarded an open-top vehicle that will parade through the streets of Dhaka before arriving at the Bangladesh Football Federation House in Motijheel, where the team will be greeted by BFF president Kazi Salahuddin.
Sabina conveyed her appreciation to both her BFF and the BFF’s boss.
“Since 2012, much progress has been made in the field of women’s football. This triumph is the culmination of years of hard effort over the last five to six years. The Bangladesh Football Federation and its president, Kazi Salahuddin, have been the most important contributors to this victory “Sabina said.
