Rohit Sharma sets a new record in the shortened Australia T20I

During his eight-over effort against Australia in Nagpur, Rohit Sharma surpassed Martin Guptill to top the list of batsmen with the most sixes in T20Is.

Rohit Sharma, the highest run-scorer in T20Is, surpassed Martin Guptill’s total of sixes to take the top spot among T20I six hitters. The India skipper now has 174 sixes in this format after slamming two sixes in the opening over from Josh Hazlewood in a run chase of 91 in eight overs.

Following him are Guptill (172 sixes) and Chris Gayle (124 sixes). Virat Kohli is the only other Indian hitter with more than 100 T20I sixes, with 104 now in the format.

Suzie Bates is the only other international hitter with more than 3500 runs in the format. Deandra Dottin and Sophie Devine are the only female cricketers with over 100 T20I sixes.

In a truncated encounter against Australia in Nagpur, Rohit’s top-order innings helped India get off to a fast start. In the eight-over game, Australia scored 90/5 batting first, but Rohit and KL Rahul put on a 39-run opening partnership in 2.5 overs to get India off to a terrific start.
